For myself personally at the immediate point of the stressful situation, taking deep breathes to stop the stress from physically taking over, is usually step one, I try to not be a dog with a bone, in regards to holding on to and replaying over and over the stressful situation in my head. I then deal with the situation in a non-judgemental way, seeking only restitution when possible. If it is out of my control, I try not to own it but make myself visualize the situation as a balloon and I am going to learn from it, if possible and then let this go…I take my hand and physically do this……silly as it all sounds it helps! The families I work with in the centers and the school age children I connect with find this helpful and easy to do. For stress in general walking and humour have saved me!
